The Westland District Library in Hokitika operates six days a week and professional library staff host events, provide regular programmes, outreach services for children and adults and a housebound home delivery service.
The vibrant, comfortable, safe and inclusive environment is a community hub that allows people to relax, connect, engage and be inspired.
Alongside the physical book collection, there are a number of digital services including, e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, e-newspapers and film streaming. Printing, scanning and free internet access are available using the computers or wifi and staff provide information and digital skills support.
The Local History Room and Digital Learning Centre are available to hire and the latter has video-conferencing facilities.
The library extends services to rural communities in Westland in the form of volunteer-run Community Libraries.
